- For years, I have worked to improve the lives of families and children, particularly those underrepresented in our society through a variety of public social welfare programs, and in the private sector. My experiences in the social justice arena, education, management and program development are extensive. Having grown up in Mississippi during the days of abject segregation, I experienced many of the human indignities that are the direct outcome of such social injustices. My family efforts to instill in me the drive to forgive and overcome the forces of bigotry helped me devote my life to address injustices in a formidable manner.
